European Union, Euro-Zone, Greece and the end of Democracy in Europe!

The European Union, Euro-Zone and Greek bailout crisis rumbles on with no sign of a solution, it is as if the whole European Union are sleep walking to disaster and just can’t grasp what is happening.

Even the German and French economies will not be immune because apart from their manageable debts they also have a combined €12 trillion in pension liabilities to fund but back to the Greek situation, it appears that no one within the European Union beaurocracy is giving a damn for the ordinary Greek citizen, the one’s really suffering!

My good friend Nigel Kelk recently sent me his version of how the Greek bailout will work, so to put a smile on your face:

It is a slow day in a little Greek Village, the rain is beating down and the streets are deserted, times are tough, everybody is in debt, and everybody lives on credit.

On this particular day a rich German tourist is driving through the village, stops at the local hotel and lays a €100 note on the desk, telling the hotel owner he wants to inspect the rooms upstairs in order to pick one to spend the night. The owner gives him some keys and, as soon as the visitor has walked upstairs, the hotelier grabs the €100 note and runs next door to pay his debt to the butcher. The butcher takes the €100 note and runs down the street to repay his debt to the pig farmer. The pig farmer takes the €100 note and heads off to pay his bill at the supplier of feed and fuel. The guy at the Farmers’ Co-op takes the €100 note and runs to pay his drinks bill at the taverna. The publican slips the money along to the local prostitute drinking at the bar, who has also been facing hard times and has had to offer him “services” on credit. The hooker then rushes to the hotel and pays off her room bill to the hotel owner with the €100 note. The hotel proprietor then places the €100 note back on the counter so the rich traveller will not suspect anything.

At that moment the traveller comes down the stairs, picks up the €100 note, states that the rooms are not satisfactory, pockets the money, and leaves town. No one produced anything. No one earned anything. However, the whole village is now out of debt and looking to the future with a lot more optimism.

And that, Ladies and Gentlemen, is how the bailout package works.

But of course, what is happening in Greece and to the Greeks is not funny, it is an affront to democracy but then as I have said many times before, the one thing the European Union is not about is democracy, as with the liberal left they look only for the perception of democracy although there is no perception of democracy when it comes to Greece! Although the Greek problems are largely self-inflicted they are also the fault of the whole Euro-Zone because they did not carry out proper checks before countries were admitted to the Euro-Zone, watered down their own rules to allow non-compliance countries to enter the Euro-Zone and failed to monitor how countries were performing. The very fact that the Greek Economy has shrunk by nominally 5%, each year, for the past 5 years should have raised alarm bells but then the dream seemed infallible!

Greece is no longer a democracy, it is run by Brussels appointees and the hardship being imposed on the Greek people in the name of the Euro is unsustainable, yes to drop our of the Euro would difficult for the proud Greek people, both in pride and hardship but their would be an end, there is no end if Greece retains the Euro.

This has to lead to a realization that the Brussels beaurocracy will stop at nothing to achieve their United States of Europe dream, democracy and public opinion will not be allowed to stand in their way nor interfere with their lifestyle of luxury and excess.

The only politician with the courage, vision and honesty to speak out is Nigel Farage of UKIP, see his video speech below, not a whisper from the likes of David Cameron when this should be the occasion when Cameron starts to distance himself from the European Union because if not we will get sucked in – permanently!

Of course David Cameron has a problem with his Lib Dem Coalition partners because they will sign anything which comes out of the European Union and are fully signed up members of the European Union conspiracy but then I wonder about Cameron, he occasionally stands up to the European Union but it only lasts a short while before he falls back into line with the Lib Dem’s! It has to be remembered that David Cameron was elected Conservative leader on false promises, elected Prime Minister on false promises and is diametrically opposed to 80% of his party, not a good situation but still infinitely better than letting the Labour Party near power.

It will be interesting to get a glimps at David Cameron’s true colours and to see how all this turns out, Cameron can look impressive but he can’t negotiate and there is simply no sign of what he really believes in, no principles a weathervane politician who will point in whichever way the votes are but hopefully he may begin to prove me wrong on the Health Service, maybe he does believe in something!
