You have been warned, yet again!

August 23, 2010 By: Phil Baker Category: Politics

Remember, you heard it at ‘Its just life’

Nick CleggGoing back to my earlier posts, Nick Clegg has now confirmed it, the voting reform referendum is a con on the British people to make sure the Liberals remain permanently in power!

If coalition governments are here to stay then the 3rd party which always makes up the government will be Liberal, the Lib Dem’s call it democracy but don’t be fooled, the Lib Dem’s have never been about democracy! (more…)

August 23, 2010 By: Phil Baker Category: Politics

I have written several posts about the real reason for the Lib Dem’s taking part in this current coalition with the conservatives and the reason is obviously the pursuit of permanent power! I am about to re-publish my earlier posts and if you read them you will be able to see what is happening.

‘The Lib Dem con on the British People, we must not fall for it! and ‘You have been warned, yet again! (more…)

Sir Winston Churchill’s Battle of Britain speach

August 23, 2010 By: Phil Baker Category: Politics

Sir Winston Churchill

Last week the country celebrated the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, the turning point of WW II, a high point was the reading of Sir Winston Churchill’s famous speech to Parliament, so much owed by so many to so few.

The speech, published in the Daily Mail, with the question do we currently have any politicians with enough understanding of history, gravitas, ability or standing to give that speech today? That is both a sad and an interesting question because really it is 2 questions (more…)

Simon Hughes thinks, now thats dangerous politics!

Simon Hughes

Simon Hughes

David Cameron is away and every day the Lib Dem’s display outwardly their obvious insuitability for the business of government, lack of principles and just greed for power.

Simon Hughes, Deputy Leader of the Lib Dem’s, now says the Lib Dem’s should be able to veto parts of coalition policy they disagree with but Simon that’s not what government is about, what you are suggesting is the government of chaos which is the norm in most other coalition governments, particularly those brought about by PR.

The Lib Dem’s are to the left of labour and the Conservatives are not their natural bedfellows but their endless greed for power led them to forget all their principles and form a government with the (more…)

Nick Clegg

Nick Clegg

Now that David Cameron is on holiday it seems that Nick Clegg thinks he is in charge and is spending his time sowing seeds of discontent about government policy.

Nick Clegg has to realize that he is in government now, in fact in cabinet and as such must be subject to cabinet responsibility, cabinet must speak with one voice. Yet in just 2 days of David Cameron being on holiday he has come out against Trident, the government policy on Council Housing and Immigration and implied he is jointly running the country with David Cameron! Dr David Kelly, murder or no murder!

August 16, 2010 By: Phil Baker Category: Politics

Michael Howard

Michael Howard

It’s good to see Michael Howard getting back into front page politics by heading up the campaign to force a full inquest into the death of Dr David Kelly, the Ministry of Defence weapons expert.

There are too many unanswered questions and just why did Labour slap a 70 year embargo on Dr David Kelly’s medical records including the results of the post-mortem examination. Unusually no coroner’s inquest was held into his death with the only official verdict coming from the Hutton Inquiry which didn’t even compel witnesses to give evidence under oath, the report was generally regarded the report as a whitewash.

CROOKS in SUITS

August 06, 2010 By: Phil Baker Category: Business

We had to bail them out because of their greed for bonuses and profits and are still the major shareholders but they won’t lend at commercial rates, are reluctant to lend to businesses, charge sky-high arrangement fees if they do decide to lend and interest rates are higher than ever. (more…)

Still worried, will Cameron be a great PM or a pup?

August 01, 2010 By: Phil Baker Category: Politics

Well so far David Cameron has proved a pretty weak negotiator, he has already given away far too much to the Lib Dem’s, a loose cannon on foreign affairs and not quite coördinated at home.

David Cameron

There is much protesting against the Government cuts, and all those protesting should remember 1) the Labour Government left us in this mess and 2) the Labour Government had its self proposed £50billion in cuts, just never decided where from, the real problem is the job of deciding which jobs to cut is in the hands of the very people who should be moving on. Defiant Sarkozy says France is not corrupt!

July 14, 2010 By: Phil Baker Category: Politics

Nicolas SarkozyWell he would, wouldn’t he, the reality is there is a whole different moral code to that which exists in the UK.

A large proportion of the UK population think that our politician’s are corrupt but that’s measured against our strict moral code. The expenses scandal in this country would not have got a mention in France, our politician’s are still (more…)

Baron Prescott of Kingston upon Hull

July 13, 2010 By: Phil Baker Category: Politics

So John Prescott, former ships steward has made it to the House of Lords, don’t miss understand me I think its wonderful to see people prove that you can pull yourself by your bootlaces right up to the highest echelons of public life, its just that John Prescott has betrayed all the principals his career was built on to achieve it.

What we really need now is politicians of PRINCIPAL but good luck to John Prescott, you will add colour to the upper chamber!

Peter Mandelson the purveyor of Treachery and Poison!

July 13, 2010 By: Phil Baker Category: Politics

It is obvious from the extracts from his recently serialised book that the only person Peter Mandelson is interested in is Peter Mandelson, I am sure most of the Labour Party have known this for years but just hoped for the better.

It is amazing how Tony Blair and Gordon Brown were taken in by him but he has shown he will milk and eventually (more…)

Paddy Ashdown warns Cameron

July 05, 2010 By: Phil Baker Category: Politics

I see that the venerable old Paddy Ashdown has warned David Cameron not to campaign against the Lib Dems demands for a change in the voting system.

The whole thing is developing into a shambles, having the vote at all is dangerous for British Democracy, and remember the Lib Dems have never been about democracy, but having it on the same day as other elections is dangerously slanting things in the Lib Dem’s favour. The Scottish and Welsh Assemblies are already (more…)

Argentina’s Weak Claim on Falklands

June 28, 2010 By: Phil Baker Category: Guest writer, Politics

FalklandsArgentina’s claim over the islands is based on an 1826 accord between Britain and a territory that wasn’t yet Argentina, the United Provinces. This treaty granted them the right to start a settlement on the islands, but soon after, the United Provinces violated the agreement and declared its sovereignty over the archipelago. Britain regained control in 1833 without a shot being fired, and it wasn’t long before these cold barren rocky isles in the South Atlantic stopped being of interest to the nation to the west. That is, until 1982, (more…)

Eggs by weight!

Eggs by the dozenIts difficult to believe but the latest EU Directives due out next year means they insist on us buying everything by weight i.e. an egg box won’t say 12 eggs but the appropriate weight, it will be illegal for the box to say 12 eggs or 6 eggs and the same applies to numerous other item, of cours it must be in metric! Disadvantages of UK Joining the Euro

June 28, 2010 By: Phil Baker Category: Guest writer, Politics

1. Loss of Independent Monetary Policy. On joining the EURO interest rates would no longer be set by the MPC. They would be set by the European Central Bank. The ECB look at the whole EURO economy and not what is best for the UK. Thus if the UK joined now interest rates would fall from 5.25% to the ECB rate of 2.25%. This fall in interest rates could cause and further boost the buoyant Housing Market and cause future inflationary pressures. (more…)

England gets no say, as we have no voice!

June 27, 2010 By: Phil Baker Category: Politics

The Conservative Liberal Democrats have set out their ‘blueprint’ for a “radical, reforming government”. There are two issues surrounding British Politics that the ‘blueprint’ simply ignores or attempts to put on the back burner. 1) Fair funding of the devolved nations 2) Devolution for England. Are There Enough Immigrants in the UK?

June 25, 2010 By: Phil Baker Category: Guest writer, Politics

Given the situation at the time of writing, asking whether the UK has enough immigrants would possibly be seen as a stupid question by most, but the question refers to the genuine, not illegal immigrants. In truth, genuine immigrants to the UK get very little attention, consequently, people don’t often get the opportunity to see the positive side of immigration and how it contributes richly to the country as a whole. Immigration is a good thing for any country that welcomes cultural diversity as well as the professional skills and talents that many immigrants bring with them, but (more…)

George Osborne with the famous red box

George Osborne with the famous red box

Not bad Mr Osborne, not bad, I don’t agree with the hike in CGT and I think you should have hit the banks many times harder but I think on the whole the boys done good, we just need to see where the government department cuts fall to get the full picture.

Every budgets a gamble and we need to see how much, if any, it stifles growth and what disruption the fall out from the Unions causes, hold your nerve George Osborne!

It was a picture to see the faces on the Labour benches and Harriet Harman was a real comedy turn, its also a shock to the Lib Dems because they, as a far left of centre party, are tied to this.

I for one are looking forward to the ride with interest!

Bloody Sunday, what a disgrace!

June 15, 2010 By: Phil Baker Category: Politics

I will not go into any depth but this Bloody Sunday enquirery is a disgrace purputrated against all British soldiers, what  I am sure about is that it was the IRA who fired first and I agree with an article in the Daily Mail, it was not Tony Blair who ended the Irish conflict it was brave British soldiers.

What on earth is Cameron apologising for and don’t forget it wasn’t British soldiers who had a shoot to kill policy, it was the IRA and it was an indiscriminate policy killing and maiming innocent men, women and children alike!

Labour leadership contest is not a sideshow

June 14, 2010 By: Phil Baker Category: Guest writer, Politics

ANYONE who thinks the Labour leadership contest is a political sideshow to the coalition’s efforts to tackle the budget deficit should look at the outcome of Canada’s federal election in 1993.
