Britain has a proud tradition of valiant armed forces and a capable military which has managed to defend these isles effectively for hundreds of years. British Military achievement is well known throughout the world and the bravery and versatility of its soldiers, seamen and airmen is unquestioned and forever stamped in history.
Today as we look at the VE Day Celebrations there is an abundance of information in the media that provides an insight into what life would have been like in those troubled times. It is right that we remember them, the fallen, and the living whose numbers dwindle with every passing year. To them we owe our freedom as they fought for this land and often lost their lives so that we might remain a free country.

Making a list of the best burlesque and cabaret clubs in London is in part a fools errand. The requirements of say a middle aged American tourist from the Mid West is going to be very different from that of say a young metropolitan burlesque aficionado or a hen /office party for that matter. And that’s before getting into supper club vs theatre style club vs bar style club, gay vs straight or the whole traditional vs neo burlesque debate. Below are what I call my five “best of breeds”. I make no attempt to crown one “best of show” continue my canine simile because to do so would be errant nonsense.

The former British Foreign Office Minister, Chris Bryant, has told the media that French is a ‘useless’ language to be learnt by any young people. Instead, he is a strong supporter for the younger generation to immerse themselves in the study of Mandarin Chinese and Arabic languages.
The former Minister said that Mandarin Chinese and Arabic languages are going to be the more important languages in the world in the foreseeable future compared to the French language. (more…)

You have booked a hard-earned week’s holiday in London and are now wondering how to plan the itinerary. But the problem is what to see? And how to cram in as much as possible? The answer is not really quantity, but quality because in London you can never have enough time or money to see absolutely everything.
To be frank, some of the attractions are not worth the journey anyway, so you need to prioritize your time and resources. So with this in mind we have drawn up a list of the best of tourist sites in London. (more…)

Britain should be proud of – their Motor Industry!Well then, that title on its own, given the current leaning towards political correctness, should cause a few comments!

morality, although there are some who purport that there are actually more people in slavery now than there were then.
At the time when the slave trade was a major part of Britain’s activity, cities like Liverpool were built on the slave trade, the majority of the world was involved in slavery and within the morality of the day it was acceptable and booming. We simply cannot rewrite history by trying to equate what happened hundreds of years ago with today’s morality, it just provides a home for sanctimonious do-gooders who have created a whole new career path trying to belittle the (more…)

I have heard so much lately about One Nation Toryism and how David Cameron has returned the Conservative Party to the One Nation ideal which, they infer was dropped by Margaret Thatcher, I can tell you now Margaret Thatcher was just as much a One Nation Tory as David Cameron is.Most of the commentators who refer to One Nation Toryism just don’t understand it or have a clue to its meaning, the hint to its meaning is in the name ‘One Nation’, the movement was started by Enoch Powell who was
Sorry to anyone who missed ‘Its just life’ over the past few days, had a major software glitch over the weekend and it wiped out my home page but plenty to write about tomorrow.
This is just a short note tonight, its very late, just to say WE ARE BACK!
Well this is new!Using data from just over 16,000 people with debt worries, the research shows that the number of people in debt is increasing, whilst the amount of debt they are in is decreasing.
The research by ClearDebt confirms a 13% increase of people with debt worries between October 2009 and March 2010 in comparison to those with money worries in October 2008 – March 2009. The survey also shows debts owed by these people have declined by nearly GBP 5,000 over the same period. ClearDebt believe that whilst the numbers of people with debt worries is rising, heightened awareness of debt issues means that they are seeking advice earlier in the cycle of debt – which may make it easier for them to resolve the problem.

Latest research from Zoopla.co.uk shows average house prices in Conservative areas 53% higher than Labour.
(PRWeb UK/PRWEB ) April 23, 2010 — The latest research released from property website Zoopla.co.uk shows the Conservative party as the runaway winner in the British property value stakes. Average house prices in Tory-controlled areas now stand at £257,518, followed by Lib Dem constituencies where the average home is worth £228,880, whilst Labour comes in a distant third at £168,112, with property values in areas under their control at almost 20% below the national average.

Thinking back to News Years Eve, just got back from visiting my wife in hospital so thought I would go and wish myself a Happy New Year at my favourite haunt.
So there I was, sitting at the bar when I noticed a young couple, she was 17 at the most with a nice little black dress on just about covering her bum, killer heals and a black coat about the same length as the dress.

Its a sad goodbye to Salt and Pepper, the cooling towers demolished at Tinsley, just off the M1. I used to work in a factory just under the towers and drink at the Engineer Public House accross the road.

Tapping away at my computer updating web sites when I turned on the BBC for the news and a little background noise, as you do and within minutes I once again found myself getting very annoyed, as I normally do when experiencing the falling standards of the BBC.
It must be the most ugly word in history but who ever thought up the word ‘TEXTED’, why not Jane has sent in a Text or we have recieved a Text from Robert. Most of the reporters have trouble stringing a sentence and you can tell from their voices that they are just reading the script with little understanding of the subject, there is just no authority anymore so I turned the wireless off, bad idea.
I see that Carol Thatcher has cashed in on her mother Margaret Thatcher, Carol how could you do this, your (more…)
Falling standards at the BBC and people in generalIts not every day you read something that not only sticks in the throat and seems to be long lasting – now then.
If what I read was true then a certain Assistant Met. Commissioner Tarique Ghaffur, the 3rd highest rank in the country, who earns £180,000 a year and has a pension pot so large that if he were to retire now he would walk away with a lump sum of £522,000 and an index linked £85,000 a year for life is claimimg his career has been blighted by racial discrimination – and is said to be demanding compensation of more than £1million.
Again, if what I read was true this guy really is A GREEDY CHANCER, he is the 3rd most powerful police officer in the whole country – just how has his career been blighted by racial discrimination, its probably been helped because everyone new that if he wasn’t promoted he would make a claim.
Its made even more laughable when you see that his boss Met. Commissioner Sir Ian Blair is the most politically correct policeman in the land.
If what has been said about Tarique Ghaffur is incorrect then everyone should opologise BUT if true then we need a nationwide campain to get the GREEDY CHANCER removed from office because his position within the Met. should be untenable.
So come on, join the debate, have your say, are you as annoyed as I am?

Just getting ready to leave, kitchen and doors to fit at our Oxford house so next post won’t be until Wednesday 20th, looking quickly at the news I see that Treasury Chief Secretary Yvette Cooper has attacked David Cameron for his warm words and critisised, what she calls, his destructive and risky agenda!
What Yvette Cooper has to accept is that our country is in a dire state, down purely to their policies and it is again essential a Conservative Government is elected asap to sort it out. When the Conservatives Parety came to power in 1979 the country was nearly bankrupt and it took two + terms to sort it out, this time it will be harder – there are so many restrictions particularly imposed by Europe!
Any way, just a quick blast to set me up for the journey
OFF TO FIT A KITCHEN!Yes its that time of year, very nearly the football season and it looks like a very exciting year for my team Tottenham Hotspur, or is it another false dawn – we will see!
I see the government has suggested that all children should learn about Islam, some people would say that the statement seems harmless but the real question we should be asking is what about children from within the Islam faith being taught about Christianity – I think you know the answer.
We should remember that this is a Christian country and presumably people of any origin come to live here because they like our way of life, our freedoms, our democracy – they don’t come here to change our way of life and if thats what they want they should GO! Its very simple, if I wanted to live in France I would expect to adopt a fair proportion of French culture, I would think it essential to learn the language and the history and thats the way it should be.
There is only one thing these comments can be called and that is COMMON SENSE!
This is a good time of year!A chief examiner has revealed that studends can be awarded marks for writing obscenities in their GCSE papers.
Peter Buckroyd from the Assessment and Qualications Alliance said that one pupil who wrote ****off as an answer in an English paper was not penalised.
Instead the pupil was given 2 points for spelling the expletive correctly and coveying a meaning, he had written it in response to the instruction: describe the room you are sitting in – ****off!
Apparantly it would havebeen wicked to have penalised the student because he did show basic skills, there is really something very seriously wrong with this country!
About the author
Extracts taken from an article by Sarah Harris Daily Mail
Well, had a good day so far, although as you wade through lifes little traumas it is apparant the whole world might just have gone mad, well either them or me!
Reading throgh the papers I see Sir Ian Blair has a problm with one of his Muslim officers, not to get into his particular problem but I note that after the Stephen Lawrence case the National Black Police Association was formed to improve the working enviroment of black staff, to enhance racial harmony and improve the quality of service to the minority ethnic community.
All very well and good, very commendable but when rank and file officers called for a National White Police Association lawyers said this was not possible, just why not?
I was reading the reading the Tom Utley column in the Mail, he was recounting how he had seen a young 11 year old drop some litter and when he gave the litter back to the youth the youth promptly dropped some more litter saying ’you freaked me out man’. The litter being dropped was produced by the Metropolitan Police and apparantly in almost every line of print it encourafed children to look upon adults not as authority figures to be respected but as perverts and predators to be deeply distrusted and despised. Safety advice is obviously essential but written in this way takes away all respect for your elders which is the basis of early discipline, without that respect it becomes impossible to instill the sort of discipline required for later life.
This is of course the work of the do-gooders and politically correct people who seem to control every aspect of our life amply aided be the social engineering of this Labour government but you know this can only happen whilst we let it and that is exactly what we are doing!
Now come on, any comments out there.?
I find it strange that the Conservatives took so much stick in the 1997 election for sleaze, which in reality was very minor and rank amateur when compare with the goings on of New Labour who largely created the Conservative sleaze. Now we are at it again, several conservatives are involved in the commons expenses row and quite rightly are being investgated, it does appear that although claims have been within the rules they have not been in the spirit of the rules and this must be stopped now. Isn’t it though strange that every conservative involved in this are on the BBC night after night whereas the labour figures are rarely mentioned.
I just think in the past 10 years we have seen a well planned and determined program, by New Labour to destroy Great Britain as we know it, our History, Religeon, Freedoms, Libertes and standards of decency, and fairness which are true Britishness and, I am sorry, we have allowed it to happen but we can reverse it, DO YOU WANT TO?
And yes, I do think the world has gone mad, or it it me!
THEM or ME!I read in todays Daily Mail that when Frank McCourt’s home was targeted by young hooligans, hurling rocks and eggs, he challenged them and told them to leave, never to return.
The following day they returned, he phoned the Police but was put on hold for 45 MINUTES! He then grabbed one of the louts and made a citizens arrest but it was Frank McCourt who was arrested later that day for KIDNAP – spending 6 weeks on bail!
Two things have got to happen, ONE a complete reversal of POLITCAL CORRECTNESS and TWO a ditching of the HUMAN RIGHTS ACT, these two issues have completely removed COMMON SENSE from our decision making.
This is a serious issue because it enters every aspect of life be it the way we bring up our children, it does no harm to slap a child and is an essential part of disipline, the way we can no longer express our opinions about certain subjects such as race, gender, nationality etc.
We cannot go on being so precious, remember the old addage ‘sticks and stones may break my bones but words can never hurt me’, we really are so politically correct it is challenging our very existance.
I would like to hear other views on this, so come lets hear some comments
Its a rum old world! It seems now that if your wheely bin is too heavy to be pulled using only 2 fingers then its too heavy for the binman, poor poor man!
In the distant past we used to pay our Rates/Poll Tax/Council Tax to pay for the services the council carried out which included collecting the bins weekly, police, fire brigade etc.
Now, apart from finding excuses not to carry out these services at all, the councils seem to think our council tax is to pay for the gold plated council pensions (25%) and the ever growing bureaucracy who’s job it seems is to find ways to charge us for services we thought we had paid for with our council tax.
